The Dallas Mavericks may be the underdogs in the upcoming NBA Finals but that isn’t stopping millions of people from betting on them.
According to NBC Sports Bet, the Mavericks are currently heavy favorites at gambling outlets and sites, scoring 84% of all bets right now.
This is happening despite the fact that Dallas has +180 odds to beat the Celtics.

It can be very smart to bet on underdogs because if they end up winning, the bettor will score a huge chunk of cash.
However, there is a large number of people who truly believe the Mavericks have what it takes to win a title.
This is because Dallas has turned things around in a gigantic way over the last few months.
Their mid-season changes at the trade deadline have paid off in a huge way and they have looked like a much better team for the last few months of the regular season.
Their greatness transcended into the playoffs too.
They moved past the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard but the other teams were completely healthy, which impressed a ton of NBA fans.
Because of that, many people think the Mavericks might be able to overtake the Celtics, who have had a relatively easy path to the Finals.
Boston has had a stellar season and has been the best team in the league for months.
They have earned the right to be the odds-on favorites to win.
But it’s very clear that many basketball fans think the Mavericks could over-perform, impress, and surprise.
In just a few weeks, they could be heading home with the Larry O’Brien trophy.
