For years, people have criticized Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors for changing the game.
They claim jump-shot-happy teams have killed the essence of basketball, with the old-school big man sometimes looking like a dying breed in today’s game.
Notably, though, that’s not what one of the greatest big men of all time seems to think.
Shaquille O’Neal has always had nothing but praise and respect for Curry.
However, none of the signs of respect had been as big as the one he had on Thursday night, as he admitted that Curry is actually a better player than he was.

Of course, fans took to Twitter to react to this somewhat shocking admission.

Shaq is definitely NOT the greatest center of all time. Don’t @ me, he said so himself as he put the likes of Reem & Keem above himself and I totally agree with him.

Shaq is hilarious, he’s extremely humble when comparing himself to guards / wings but has a giant ego when comparing to bigs

Shaq has always been quite vocal about his opinions, and he’s never hesitated to remind everybody just how dominant and great he was back in the day, so for him to acknowledge that another player may have been ahead of him in the all-time rankings is a lot.
Needless to say, there’s absolutely no way to compare Shaq and Steph, as they played in different eras with different skill sets, different rules, and different positions.
But both players have most definitely marked an era in the league.
Shaq was an unstoppable force of nature and the most physically imposing player we’ve ever seen.
Curry doesn’t impress with athleticism or strength, but he’s one of the most ruthless and cold-blooded players this game has ever seen, so no wonder why Shaq likes his game so much.
