If you watched baseball in the early-2000s, there is no chance you don’t remember the impact a young Marlins left-hander had in the league.

With a high leg kick and an unconventional style, Dontrelle Willis won the NL Rookie of the Year award in 2003, the same year the Miami Marlins (then Florida Marlins) took the World Series.

Willis went on to play in two All-Star Games and had a nice 4.17 ERA upon retiring.

As a child, Willis rooted for the Oakland Athletics.

He was born and raised in Alameda, California, and his favorite player growing up was former Athletics pitcher Dave Stewart.

Willis went to Twitter to comment on the current A’s situation.

They announced that they intend to be playing in Las Vegas by 2027, as they finally got the land to build a stadium near the Las Vegas strip.

“The more i think of the @Athletics moving the more upset i get. This team saved my life this is unacceptable and i feel horrible for the fans. You deserved better a long time ago and i know vegas the stadium is going to be nice but i feel that should’ve happened in Oakland,” Willis tweeted.

It’s hard not to empathize with what Oakland A’s fans must be feeling.

They are taking the team away from them.

Ownership claims that the main reason is because fans don’t go to the stadium.

Perhaps if they did repairs to the Coliseum, or built a more modern one in Oakland, they would go.

Maybe if they cared enough to put together a more competitive team instead of Double-A and Triple-A castoffs, they would be more interested.

Willis knows what fans must feel.
