With the NBA trade deadline closing in, it’s normal to overreact after every minor thing.

That’s why rumors started swirling as soon as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night.

Following the win and after scoring 13 points with six assists, D’Angelo Russell fled the arena and refused to talk to the media, as reported by Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times.

Russell came back from a short absence with a tailbone contusion, and his name has often been tangled up in multiple trade rumors since the start of the season.

Reports dating back to last season stated that LeBron James was unsatisfied with Russell’s play, and he also complained about not being the Lakers’ point guard last year.

He’s been in and out of the starting lineup since coming back to Los Angeles, and it’s safe to say that consistency isn’t his most notorious trait.

Russell’s trade value might not be at an all-time high right now, either.

He’s never going to live up to the expectations that came with him as the former No. 2 pick, and he has had multiple character-related issues throughout the course of his career, so moving on from him might not be an easy task for Rob Pelinka.

Darvin Ham’s team finally snapped a losing streak but is still far behind in the playoff race, and they’re going to have to work overtime to overhaul their roster ahead of the second half of the season before it’s too late.
