The New England Patriots desperately need to take a step forward offensively in 2023.

Mac Jones’ regression raised plenty of doubts about him as the future of the organization, and HC Bill Belichick made it loud and clear that he would give Bailey Zappe a chance to earn the QB1 job.

That’s why Jones vowed to earn everyone’s respect back and be better this season, and it seems like he’s living up to that word thus far.

According to a report by MassLive, Jones has been extremely sharp and impressive in training camp, outdueling Zappe and showing remarkable accuracy thus far.

The Alabama product even hit 25 straight passes and only missed two for the afternoon.

The Patriots hired Bill O’Brien to serve as their new offensive coordinator, and he already knows Jones from their days with the Crimson Tide.

Jones looked poised and ahead of schedule in his first season in the league, but he regressed vastly in his second year without Josh McDaniels pulling the strings of the offense.

The Patriots are looking to bounce back and get back to the postseason in 2023, which will be easier said than done, as they look like the worst team in their division right now.

The upcoming season will be a tough challenge for the roster, Belichick, and Jones, and some believe there could be multiple changes in the organization if they don’t make the playoffs.

The stakes have never been higher in New England, and not even Belichick is safe this time.
