After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, the Los Angeles Chargers‘ 2023 NFL season already feels over.

At 2-4, the Chargers are third in the AFC West and could very well be last had they not been able to hold on in their victories.

Los Angeles looked like they were sorely missing Mike Williams on the outside against Kansas City as Justin Herbert was forced to rely on shorter throws to move the football.

Even Austin Ekeler didn’t help much as he was bottled up on the ground and didn’t contribute nearly anything in the passing game.

Herbert was just 17-of-30 passing the football, racking up 259 yards and one touchdown though he had two interceptions.

The former sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is supremely talented but somehow finds himself leading a not so flattering category via CBS.

No active QB has more losses since 2020 than Herbert.

The Chargers have built a reputation for losing games in spectacular fashion, but their defeat to the Chiefs was just them simply being outplayed by a better team.

Los Angeles has plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, but head coach Brandon Staley has been unable to get the most out of his players.

Herbert has definitely struggled with decision-making under pressure, though that’s normal for every quarterback in the league.

Staley’s job feels like it’ll be coming to an end soon considering how the team looks on the field, but they’ll also need better games out of Herbert.

The star signal-caller has all the tools necessary to deliver wins, though it’s hard to see that happening this season.
