The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk haven’t been able to come to terms on a new deal.
The Niners have repeatedly claimed they want to keep him there, but they’re not willing — or able to meet his terms.
The season is just around the corner, and they may have come to terms with the fact that they’re just not going to meet in the middle and get a new deal done.
That’s why they’re finally starting to listen to trade offers for their All-Pro wideout.
And while there were many suitors at first, it seems like it has now come down to just two.
According to a report by Andrew Fillipponi, the Niners are actively trying to push Aiyuk to accept to be traded to either the New England Patriots or Cleveland Browns.
He reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers are no longer a feasible option because they don’t want to meet the Niners’ demands, and the Washington Commanders have also removed themselves from the Aiyuk sweepstakes.
My opinion on this @MaioccoNBCS report. 49ers are trying to publicly pressure Aiyuk into accepting deal to one of these 2 teams. Because they like those trade packages better than what Steelers have offered. I don’t think Aiyuk wants to play for Patriots or Browns. Very messy. pic.twitter.com/yHoPCCJjpm

The Steelers made sense as they needed someone besides George Pickens, and his ties to Jayden Daniels also made the Commanders a logical destination.
Fillipponi adds that Aiyuk may not want to play for the Browns or Patriots either, so he might run out of options.
At this point, Aiyuk might have to realize that he doesn’t have that kind of leverage.
As good a player as he is, he’s clearly not seen as a superstar around the league, so he’ll have to come down to Earth.
