The Milwaukee Bucks don’t have that many options to improve their roster right now.

That’s why they need to do whatever it takes to get Khris Middleton back and locked up for the future.

But Middleton is an unrestricted free agent after declining his player option for the upcoming season, so, technically, he could sign with whichever team offers him the most money.

With that in mind, Cameron Salerno reports that the Sacramento Kings are expected to make a play for the former NBA champion.

The Kings freed up plenty of cap space during the NBA Draft by trading Richaun Holmes away, and their reported interest in Kyle Kuzma makes it evident that they’re looking for an upgrade at the small forward position.

Harrison Barnes will also be a free agent, and he might not demand a steep salary at this point in his career, but they could still do better, at least while Keegan Murray continues his development.

Even so, luring Middleton away from Wisconsin seems like an uphill battle.

He’s heavily invested in the Bucks’ project and reportedly played a big part in their decision to hire Adrian Griffin as their new coach, as he was a part of the team’s brass that met with all the candidates.

Also, the Bucks won’t have any cap space to make a run at someone else if Middleton leaves, so they will have no choice but meet his financial aspirations, as he’s their second-best player and one of the biggest reasons why they won the ring just two years ago.
