The Charlotte Hornets are once again in the market for a head coach after another dismal 21-61 season that resulted in the team parting ways with Steve Clifford after his second tenure as the team’s coach.
Clifford coached the Hornets for five seasons beginning in 2013 and was re-hired as the coach for the past two years, but the team has now finally zeroed in on two candidates to take over next.
Evan Sidery of Forbes shared that Celtics lead assistant Charles Lee and former NBA player and current analyst JJ Redick are the two finalists for the vacancy, and both will have second interviews soon so the Hornets can come to a final decision.

This franchise has never won 50 games, hasn’t won its division, and has never advanced to the second round of the playoffs, so it’s time for the Hornets to start reevaluating how they do things.
Both of these coaching options would be a step in the right direction, as the team needs a young, progressive, and steadying force to serve as a long-term solution.
The locker room has been questionable in recent years due to the off-court issues of Miles Bridges and Kai Jones, not to mention the poor drafting that has taken its toll and kept this team toiling in mediocrity for decades.
Redick is a calm presence with an unparalleled knowledge and passion for the sport that makes up for the fact that he has no coaching experience.
Lee played professionally overseas and is an accomplished assistant coach in the league who is in his first year on the Celtics bench after spending 2018-2023 in Milwaukee, where he became an NBA champion.
