The National Football League usually has a short memory.
One day you’re a star and a sought-after player, and the other, you’re more of an afterthought.
Notably, former star WR DeAndre Hopkins found that out the hard way, as he had a tough time gauging interest after being released by the Arizona Cardinals.
But after weeks of speculation and several visits, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler (via Dakota Randall) reports that the New England Patriots and Tennesse Titans are the frontrunners to sing the former Houston Texans standout.
On SportsCenter this morning, @JFowlerESPN said Patriots and Titans are “favorites” for DeAndre Hopkins.
“I’m told he had a GREAT visit with New England.”
On Dalvin Cook:
“Patriots, I believe, are intrigued to some extent on pairing a running back with Rhamondre Stevenson.”

Hopkins reportedly was in no rush to get a deal done and was even reportedly willing to wait until training camp to see how things played out, hoping an injury or a desperate team would grant him the kind of money he was looking for.
He may not have an opportunity to play for a Super Bowl with the Patriots or the Titans, and his QB situation will be far from ideal in both spots, but he made a living out of putting up huge yardage total and big plays in Houston even when Deshaun Watson wasn’t in town.
Some around the league believe that he’s lost a step already and is no longer capable of making the kind of impact he made years ago.
But Hopkins has perhaps the most reliable pair of hands in the league, and even if he’s never been much of a speedster, he’ll still have an edge in one-on-one matchups more often than not, especially in the end zone.
