With NBA All-Star Weekend officially in the books and the regular season set to get back underway this week, the league is taking a lot of heat for what was another forgettable NBA All-Star Game due to the lack of effort and competitiveness shown by the league’s best players.

It seems that the fans and media are finally fed up with the league’s best and brightest mailing it in during the All-Star Game, as there was a lot of criticism on Monday for what turned out to be a game that was virtually unwatchable with the winning team scoring 211 points, with a combined 168 three-point field goals attempted.

It is getting to the point where fans might not be inclined to tune into the annual event anymore, as it seems as though the players don’t care what product is put on the basketball floor.

As if the game wasn’t bad enough, with three-pointers getting jacked up left and right with no defense being played at all, the players were urged to play competitively by Julius Erving, Larry Bird, and Andre Iguodala before both teams took the floor on Sunday, per Vince Goodwill via NBACentral.

Clearly, something needs to be done in order to change things, as playing competitively in this game between the best of the best was never a problem in the past, but now it’s a struggle, even though players are getting paid more than ever to entertain the fans.

Unfortunately, there may not be a remedy for this, which makes the job of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver that much more difficult moving forward.
