With just two teams left in contention for the NBA championship, the rest of the league is already planning for the upcoming campaign and beyond.
This means we’re about to witness several trades and transactions, just like in every offseason.
However, this time, we might even see an uptick in trades, as this draft class is one of the weakest we’ve ever seen, so teams will be more aggressive in trying to get players and dumping their first-round picks.
With that in mind, New Orleans Pelicans insider Christian Clark revealed that the Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks, and Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to resume trade talks surrounding Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, or Darius Garland in the offseason (Via Legion Hoops).
Clark adds that, of all players, the Pelicans currently hold more interest in getting Murray.

This is hardly surprising, as the Pelicans were close to postseason contention again, but lacked a lead guard and someone who could pull the strings of the offense.
CJ McCollum has never been that kind of player, and while he can make plays for others, he’s more of an off-ball shooting guard and not an actual point guard.
Also, with Zion Williamson clearly not being able to stay healthy, especially when it counts, the Pelicans must address the rest of the roster to try and build a competitive squad regardless of whether they have their injury-prone star on the court.
And with the Hawks looking to break their backcourt up, it’ll be interesting to see the bidding war for Murray and/or Young in the next couple of weeks.
