The San Francisco 49ers have gone through training camp without their best player on the field, but there have been little-to-no concerns about that situation thus far.

With their regular-season opener just 20 days from now, star EDGE rusher Nick Bosa continues to hold out as he awaits to sign a contract extension.

Despite that situation, most people within the organization are fully confident in their ability to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

Moreover, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks doesn’t seem worried about any sort of rust when he shows up, knowing that he’s going to be as good as he’s ever been once that happens (via ProFootballTalk):

“I think you guys have been around here longer than I have, and I’ve seen it from afar. I think he’ll be fine when he gets here,” defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said Monday, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com.

The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has also been quite vocal about his confidence in the team’s determination to do right by him.

Bosa is expected to fetch a historically-high deal and become the single highest-paid defensive player in the league, and rightfully so.

He’s become one of the most disruptive and dominant defensive forces in modern football history, and he continues to pile up stacks to make a case for being a future Hall of Famer.

The Niners know they cannot afford to enter next season without their best player, especially after already losing former Defensive Coordinator Demeco Ryans to the Houston Texans’ Head Coaching job.

Moreover, even if they still seem to be quite high on Brock Purdy as their quarterback for the future, they know they’ll have a bigger chance to win when their defensive unit is on the field.
