The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the best teams in the NFL over the past two seasons.
Brock Purdy has taken them further than many thought was possible, leading them to the Super Bowl last year and the NFC Championship the year prior.
While Purdy has taken their offense to a new level, the 49ers’ defense has remained strong.
They continued to be ranked as a league leader in many categories, yet another reason they are still viewed as the Super Bowl favorites heading into the 2024 season.
One of their elite defenders, Deommodore Lenoir, recently sat down with Richard Sherman, talking with him about the Super Bowl.
Lenoir recanted a conversation he had with former defensive coordinator, Steve Wilks, saying, “I was telling them, I feel like I should be in the slot this game.”

Lenoir believed he would be better served as a slot defender against the Kansas City Chiefs, but his coaches, namely, Wilks, didn’t listen.
The coaching staff believed he was better served on the outside, even though the Chiefs didn’t have any obvious deep threats.
Would this have made a difference in the Super Bowl?
It’s hard to tell.
At the very least, Lenoir is under the impression that things could have been slightly different in the slot, which might have been enough to change the game’s outcome.
With these conversations in mind, it is evident that Lenoir and the rest of his teammates are hungry for success heading into 2024, ready to capitalize on any mistakes that were made last season.
