Following an inspired run to the Super Bowl last year and seeing star quarterback Brock Purdy come into his own as the leader under center, the San Francisco 49ers will try to take it to another level during the 2024 NFL season, as it will be Super Bowl title or bust for Kyle Shanahan’s squad.
Unfortunately for San Francisco, the team is dealing with a few issues with the start of the 2024 campaign only a few weeks away, as the team could be on the verge of trading disgruntled star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk while also needing to come to terms on a new deal for left tackle Trent Williams.
As if it wasn’t bad enough to have two of their best players on offense currently in limbo with the start of the regular season approaching, the 49ers now have an injury to a star player to deal with.
According to 49ers on NBCS, superstar running back Christian McCaffrey has suffered a calf injury and will be sidelined for the next few weeks, meaning he’ll miss all three of the team’s preseason games.

With McCaffrey being arguably the team’s best player and not really needing the reps in preseason, he would’ve likely missed those three games before the regular season regardless, as there’s no reason to risk his health, considering how much he means to the team and its offense.
However, it is concerning that the perennial Pro Bowler is already dealing with an injury and the fact it is a calf injury, which can be tricky and something not to be taken lightly as it can lead to a more severe injury that could sideline him for a very long time.
