The NBA has come a long way since the good old days, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Some may like it, some may hate it, but it is what it is.

This fast-paced, run-and-gun, jump-shot happy era has come to break all kinds of records, and Wednesday night’s slate showed that.

According to SportsCenter, it was the first time in NBA history that at least five teams scored 140 points or more in a single game.

The Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz starred in the ultimate nail-biter, with the Pistons almost snapping a 15-game road losing streak, but eventually falling 148-154 in overtime.

The Oklahoma City Thunder almost pulled off an epic comeback on the road vs. the Atlanta Hawks, but eventually fell short in a 138-141 loss.

The Indiana Pacers managed to beat the Milwaukee Bucks again, and they’ve shredded their defense to pieces over and over, this time with a 142-130 win.

And last but not least, we find the Cleveland Cavaliers putting up 140 points on the Washington Wizards despite not having Darius Garland and Evan Mobley on the court due to injuries.

Defense seems to be a bit of a lost art, and you’re not going to come across an 80-82 kind of game anymore; it just won’t happen.

That doesn’t mean the game got worse or lacks tactics, though, and the beauty of basketball is that there are so many different ways to play it.

So, instead of constantly bashing the modern-day product, perhaps we need to find different ways to appreciate it.
