It’s been quite an eventful start to the week for Daryl Morey and the Philadelphia 76ers.

They agreed on a four-year, maximum contract with Paul George to get him next to Joel Embiid.

Now, they got Embiid’s other sidekick paid as well.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Maxey and the Sixers have agreed on principle to a five-year max contract extension worth $204 million.

This was long overdue and pretty much a no-brainer for the Sixers.

Maxey broke out last season and showed them that life without James Harden could actually be sweeter.

The Sixers made the most of the Harden trade to create enough cap space to land another star, and that star turned out to be Paul George.

Maxey has been one of the best and most consistent combo guards in the game.

He’s physical, smart, and knows how to get to his spots and put up big numbers from all three levels.

The Sixers got a huge upgrade over the ever-struggling Tobias Harris.

On top of that, they locked in their best young player for years to come, and he showed that he could hold down the fort if Embiid is out with injuries.

Morey has worked around the clock during the start of the offseason, and the Sixers have gotten significantly better with what he’s done thus far.
