Just a few months ago, NBA big man Mo Bamba signed a deal to play with the Philadelphia 76ers.
And even though he hasn’t played a game for the Sixers yet, he is already showing love to the city.
A video shared by Lauren Rosen on Twitter shows Bamba visiting the students at General George A. McCall School in Philadelphia.
Speaking to the ecstatic young fans, Bamba gave them some solid advice about their education.
“Showing up is half the battle. I remember when I was a fifth grader, I had perfect attendance. Listen… and don’t be afraid to ask questions,” he said.

Signing with the 76ers is definitely something special and near and dear to Bamba’s heart.
The 25-year-old center actually went to high school in Pennsylvania, learning how to play at Westtown School in West Chester.
Therefore, playing for the Sixers will be a labor of love for Bamba.
Bamba is coming off of his sole, brief stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Although the team had high hopes for him, things didn’t really pan out in LA.
Plagued by injury, he averaged only 3.7 points and 4.6 rebounds during just nine games after being traded to the team in February.
It wasn’t very surprising when the Lakers let go of him, considering they never got a chance to really see him shine.
There was a time when Bamba was averaging nearly a double-double every night when he was playing for the Orlando Magic.
Will he be able to reach those heights again now that he’s playing for the Sixers?
Bamba doesn’t want to only be an inspiration for the young kids in the Philadelphia area, he also wants to be an inspiration for the loyal fans who are hoping that this year will finally see their team reach a championship.
