Earlier this week, former Duke guard Jared McCain was drafted as the 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Since then, he has started to wrap his head around what his basketball career will look like and how it’ll be to play against some of his idols.
According to a video shared by ClutchPoints, McCain said he will be star-struck taking on Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
“Oh, Curry, for sure, I’m going to be way too hyped; hopefully I can focus during that game,” McCain said.

McCain has been watching a number of NBA players over the years, tweaking his game to play like them.
But now he will face them down on the court, which will be a wild change that will require an adjustment period.
After watching Curry for so long, McCain will now attempt to block him.
Curry isn’t the only big star McCain will play against.
His rookie year will be filled with hard-to-believe moments that feel larger than life for McCain.
Now he just has to do all he can to help his team win.
Next season is going to be a big one for the 76ers.
They have just come off their latest disappointing postseason run and are eager to put it behind them and become one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference again.
Will McCain be one of the new recruits that makes that happen?
Aside from McCain, the 76ers will probably add other players from across the league to give them a better chance.
So McCain likely won’t be the only new face on the roster next season.
