The Philadelphia 76ers will try to even their opening round series against the New York Knicks on Monday night but they may be doing that without one of their best stars.
Chris Haynes is reporting that Sixers star Tyrese Maxey is “questionable” for Monday’s game with an illness.
If Maxey sits out of the game, it’ll be a huge blow to the Sixers, who haven’t been able to catch a break with injuries and absences lately.

During Saturday’s Game 1, Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points.
All season long, he has improved his game, stepped up, and become one of the most valuable and reliable players for the team.
He averaged 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game in 2023-24 and is in the running for this season’s Most Improved Player award.
It was a great regular season for Maxey but it’s all come down to the playoffs and now the 76ers need him more than ever before.
The Sixers have already had a ton of issues lately, losing Joel Embiid for months due to a serious knee injury.
Embiid is back now but some have said he isn’t playing with the same explosiveness as before.
He hurt himself again during Saturday’s game, although he was able to finish the game.
This was just further proof that the 76ers could be losing Embiid again at any moment.
That makes Maxey and his skills even more important, especially right now.
The good news is that if Maxey is out on Monday, it’ll only be for a short time because illnesses are easily overcome.
Still, every single player is needed during the postseason and the 76ers want Maxey to be 100% healthy and ready to play.
