Ahead of the official start of NBA free agency on Sunday, a few teams around the league appear to be interested in making trades to improve their rosters, which could make things interesting heading into July.
Teams around the league aren’t wasting any time during this NBA offseason to address areas of need, as the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder have made some substantial moves to put them in the title-contending conversation ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.
The Knicks gave up a lot of draft capital to the Brooklyn Nets to land Mikal Bridges and bring another former Villanova star to New York, while the Thunder upgraded significantly defensively by shipping Josh Giddey to the Chicago Bulls for one-time NBA champion Alex Caruso.
Although there could be a ton of trades this summer, some intriguing players are hitting NBA free agency, with Haywood Highsmith of the Miami Heat receiving interest from a long list of teams, according to Mike Scotto of Hoops Hype via NBA Central.

Unlike superstars Paul George and LeBron James, who are the two most notable players who will become free agents on Sunday, Highsmith isn’t exactly a game-changer, but he could help one of the teams interested in his services heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.
In 66 games with the Heat last season, Highsmith averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, shooting 46.5% from the floor and 39.6% from beyond the arc.
It’ll be interesting to see where Highsmith lands in free agency and whether he can make a significant impact next season if he leaves Miami this summer.
