The New York Yankees had put a lot of faith in their top shortstop prospect Anthony Volpe this spring.
The team had him prepared to compete for the starting shortstop job along with Oswald Peraza and Isiah Kiner-Falefa this spring.
As it turns out, the Yankees’ faith in Volpe has been rewarded.
On Saturday, it was announced that Volpe would in fact be on the Yankees Opening Day roster.
The 21-year-old had a strong spring and ultimately forced the Yankees’ hand.
On Twitter, MLB Network posted a highlight reel featuring some important moments for Volpe, including the day he was drafted and the moment he discovered he had made the big-league roster for Opening Day.

The New Jersey native was drafted in the first round in 2019 by the Yankees.
And after a solid spring training, the top prospect is on his way to the Bronx with the rest of the team.
New York won 99 games last season and captured the AL East title for the first time since 2019.
After they were swept in the ALCS by the eventual World Series champion Houston Astros, there were several question marks surrounding the team.
The shortstop position was one of them.
Fortunately, Volpe put together an impressive spring, hitting .314 in 51 at-bats with three home runs, five RBI, five stolen bases, and a 1.064 OPS.
The Bronx Bombers now officially have their starting shortstop for the 2023 season, and they’ll hope that Volpe lives up to the hype this season and helps them regain their spot at the top of the AL East.
