Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is arguably one of the best players in the NBA today.

The Slovenian superstar has taken the league by storm, which has led team owner Mark Cuban wanting to do everything he can to keep him in Dallas for the foreseeable future.

This led to the blockbuster trade acquiring fellow NBA superstar Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets.

Although a solid move on paper, it hasn’t worked out well thus far, which has led ESPN’s Tim MacMahon to say the Mavs are the most disappointing team in the league this year.

Along with Irving and Doncic battling injuries since the trade, Dallas hasn’t been able to put it together on the floor on a consistent basis.

Things have gotten so bad for the Mavs that they are simply hoping to make the NBA playoffs at this point.

Dallas currently sits in 11th place in the Western Conference with a losing record of 36-39.

With two superstar players in their prime, a losing record with a handful of games left in the season is inexcusable.

Unfortunately for Dallas, the team can’t even add much firepower to the squad, with the buyout market drying up and players being unable to play in the postseason if signed for the rest of the regular season.

Although the Mavs aren’t entirely out of the playoff picture just yet, the future looks bleak, and that could lead to Irving’s departure in the summer, along with a lot of questions about Doncic’s long-term future with the team.
