Although the season started out strong for the Utah Jazz, the team is now likely going to miss the postseason.

That means they are planning ahead for the upcoming season, tweaking their roster, and figuring out their next steps.

Due to that, Shams Charania is reporting that the Jazz are signing center Luka Samanic to a 10-day contract.

Samanic is currently a player for the G League Maine Celtics team, where he is averaging 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds a game.

He was the 19th overall pick in the 2019 draft but played in just 36 games for his first two NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs.

Following that, Samanic was then waived by San Antonio and signed a two-way deal with the Knicks, although he never officially played for them.

Samanic played for the Boston Celtics’ training camp in the fall but he didn’t get a spot on their roster and instead signed with the Maine Celtics in the G League.

Since then, he has averaged a double-double and has been one of the better players in the G League.

The fact that he is signing a 10-day contract with the Jazz means that he could have a bright or brief future with the team.

They could decide to sign another 10-day with him after this one or let him go and allow him to return to the G League.

The Jazz have a depleted roster right now but they also have a long offseason to decide what’s next for them.

This has many people wondering how much we will see of Samanic: will he only spend a few days with the team or will he be part of their lineup when the 2023-24 season begins?
