The New York Jets continue to wait for Aaron Rodgers.
They haven’t been able to strike a deal with the Green Bay Packers, even after the legendary quarterback expressed his desire to play for the organization.
And while some seem to be pretty confident in their ability to get a deal done, it seems like they should be exploring other options already, just in case.
As a matter of fact, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg believes the Baltimore Ravens standoff with Lamar Jackson is actually a great situation for the Jets, as it could give them some leverage in trade talks.
Simply put, the Jets can threaten to pursue Lamar to make the Packers lower their asking price for Rodgers.
However, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum believes they should take an even “bigger-picture” approach and actually pursue Jackson right now.
Tannenbaum explained that the Jets should’ve reached out to Lamar already, citing that Rodgers is going to be there for the short term, while Jackson could still be an option for them next season.

Truth be told, there’s only so much the Packers could do to still have any sort of leverage in trade talks if the Jets start seriously pursuing Jackson, although that might not sit well with a player like Aaron Rodgers.
Still, we’ve seen crazier things happen, and Rodgers is an unpredictable guy, so it seems like the Jets cannot afford to just rest on their laurels and hope he falls right into their laps.
They must do something.
