The Lamar Jackson sweepstakes are the biggest talking point in NFL circles right now, and rightfully so.

The former MVP has had it with the Baltimore Ravens and is likely to be on a new team by Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

But what team will that be?

That’s anybody’s guess, as multiple organizations have already shut the door on a potential trade for the Louisville product.

Nonetheless, it seems like New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft wouldn’t mind seeing Jackson suiting up for his team.

He recently claimed that hip-hop star Meek Mill texted him to tell him that Jackson wanted to play for the Patriots, adding that it would eventually be Bill Belichick’s decision.

Of course, every owner wants his team to do better, and Jackson would be a massive, major, significant upgrade over the struggling Mac Jones.

But the fact that he put those comments out there made NBC Sports analysts Tom Curran and Albert Breer speculate Kraft’s reasoning.

“It makes me wonder… why does [Robert Kraft] want that out there?”@AlbertBreer & @tomecurran discuss Robert Kraft’s comment that Meek Mill told him Lamar Jackson wants to play for the Patriots pic.twitter.com/w9rq9WgVWu

Why would he want to put that pressure and responsibility on Belichick?

Is he not satisfied with Jones’ development?

Jones’ regression was most definitely worrisome, but it also had plenty to do with former DC Matt Patricia calling the plays on offense, and he’s still quite young and showed glimpses of greatness in his rookie season.

Whatever the case, the Pats haven’t been very good for the past couple of seasons, so we wouldn’t be shocked if they tried and made a run at Lamar Jackson.
