The New England Patriots organization had stability at the quarterback position for over 20 years with Tom Brady at the helm.
Now, they find themselves in a difficult spot, which is familiar to many teams across the league.
The Patriots did draft Mac Jones in 2021, but he hasn’t exactly panned out how the team has hoped thus far.
Recently, Devin McCourty, a Patriots retiree, has insisted that the team should pursue Lamar Jackson.

Jackson is still undergoing turmoil with the Baltimore Ravens, with the latest reports indicating that he has requested a trade.
In McCourty’s eyes, the Patriots should at least make a call to Jackson to see if he has any interest to suit up for the organization.
Since Brady left the team, the Patriots’ fanbase has been begging for a superstar at the quarterback position.
Jackson is a former NFL MVP and has shown that he is a proven winner in the league.
However, he doesn’t necessarily fit in the Patriots’ scheme, considering that they typically tend to employ a certain brand of quarterback.
With that in mind, the NFL is constantly changing.
Many of the league’s top quarterbacks are known to have lethal arms, while also being able to run whenever a situation dictates.
Ultimately, Jackson is still a member of the Ravens, given their non-exclusive tag on him.
Will a team like the Patriots be willing to sign Jackson to a long-term contract, giving up two first-round picks in the process?
McCourty believes that the Patriots should at least consider this option.
