The Atlanta Falcons have been at the forefront of many conversations during the 2023 NFL offseason.
At one time, they were considered front-runners to land Lamar Jackson if he were to leave the Baltimore Ravens.
The Falcons are often regarded as having a fantastic young core of players, led by Drake London and Kyle Pitts.
Despite rumors of Jackson potentially joining the team, the Falcons’ head coach has remained committed to his team.
Arthur Smith recently commented on this situation, saying “We are going to talk about our own players.”
#Falcons coach Arthur Smith said Desmond Ridder is the starting quarterback. “We expect Desmond to take the next step,” Smith said. (He would not comment about Lamar Jackson. “We are going to talk about our own players,” Smith said) pic.twitter.com/9U483xb2qz

Smith also said that the team is committed to Desmond Ridder as their starting quarterback moving forward.
Ridder was a third-round pick during the 2022 NFL Draft and was highly touted after his success at the University of Cincinnati.
During his rookie year, Ridder started four games for the Falcons, finishing with a 2-2 record.
He threw for 708 total yards and two touchdowns and didn’t throw any interceptions.
Because he was primarily in the backup role, Ridder didn’t have much of an opportunity to grow with his weapons last season.
With any luck, Ridder will be able to connect with Pitts and London during the offseason and training camp, resulting in a much smoother start to 2023.
Smith and the Falcons have placed their trust in Ridder, and are expecting him to be their starter next year.
Many fans have clamored for the chance to trade for Jackson, the former league MVP, as they don’t share the same affinity for Ridder.
The Falcons have a young, star-studded offense.
Will they be able to turn that into a winning season?
