The Los Angeles Clippers are currently the fifth-best team in the Western Conference and stand on the verge of making the playoffs.
Last season, the team qualified for the play-in tournament but didn’t make the postseason so this is a pretty major turnaround for the team.
Even if they don’t go far in the playoffs, this season will continue an impressive record.
As noted by writer Andrew Greif, this is the 12th consecutive Clippers season with at least 40 wins.
That’s a strong record made even more impressive by the fact that before the streak started back in 2011-12, there were just eight years when the Clippers won 40+ games in a season.

It’s clear that the Clippers win way more than they used to – but they are still not winning when it counts the most.
Since their 40+ win streak started, the Clippers have made it to the playoffs nine times.
They made the Western Conference Finals just once during that time period, consistently falling short of their goal of reaching the NBA championship.
This year was supposed to be different.
With the return of Kawhi Leonard alongside a healthy Paul George, the Clippers had a chance to be the best team in their conference.
While they are far from bad, they aren’t living up to the hype and hope of many fans.
They will most definitely make the postseason but their success in those games is not guaranteed.
That means that they could again have a good regular season record and still disappoint their patient fanbase.
If that does happen, the team could look very different in the upcoming season.
