The New England Patriots will have some tough decisions to make over the next few weeks.
They need to decide what they want to do at quarterback long-term.
In 2021, the Patriots drafted quarterback Mac Jones with the 15th overall pick.
Since then, Jones has led the Patriots to one playoff appearance and made one Pro Bowl team.
But it seems like Jones has a low ceiling as an NFL starter.
He can be good on a team with a loaded roster.
But, if Jones is asked to carry an offense, the Patriots would be in serious trouble.
That is why New England must take a long look at Lamar Jackson.
He is a difference-maker at quarterback, and someone the Patriots can build around.
Also, he would make them immediate contenders in the AFC.
But, to pursue Jackson means the Patriots have to be willing to move off Jones.
As Tom Curran said on the Pat McAfee Show, the Patriots will have to admit Mac Jones “can’t do it.”

That should not be something hard for the Patriots to admit, but many teams are afraid to move off their quarterbacks.
We saw the same thing with Daniel Jones in New York.
He is a limited player, yet the Giants decided to pay him anyway.
It is rare for a former MVP quarterback in the prime of his career to be available.
But now that he is, the Patriots can go all-in to acquire him.
