It’s been a tale of two completely different teams with the 2022-23 Golden State Warriors.
They boast the third-best home record in the Western Conference at 31-8, but they also have the third-worst road record at 9-29.
The Warriors can’t seem to get a stop away from home — especially when it comes to guarding the perimeter.
Of course, getting Gary Payton II and maybe even Andrew Wiggins back should do a lot to help in that regard, but they’ve been terrible on the road for most of the season.
That’s why sports analyst Shannon Sharpe only gives them a 3% chance to win the NBA championship this season.
Sharpe pointed out the fact that they won’t have a home-court advantage in any potential playoff series, and the likelihood of coming out of the West and winning the title in that condition is pretty much non-existent.

“The Warriors are 9-29 on the road. Don’t you have to win on the road to be an NBA champion?” pic.twitter.com/S8aogFZAaY

Of course, the fans had plenty to say about Sharpe’s assessment:
At least he gives them a chance man..@getnickwright

Uncle shay @ShannonSharpe you do realize the Warriors have won at least 1 road playoff game in 27 straight playoff series …they will be fine https://t.co/lOR0fiVv8o

@natfluential, Shannon Sharpe is sound like a Warriors hater. https://t.co/ApV6X20du9

One could argue that the Warriors have gone 37-22 in the playoffs in the Steve Kerr era, and they’ve never gone home prior to the NBA Finals once they’ve made the playoffs.
They have the championship experience and mindset, and they’ve been at that stage way too many times to be counted out.
But then again, this team isn’t getting any younger, and they’ve looked sloppy and lost on the road way too often this season.
The Warriors have made history and silenced their doubters over and over since Kerr took the helm of the team, but beating the odds this time might as well be their most epic achievement yet.
