For years, NFL players have urged the league to shorten the schedule.

Instead, the NFL agreed to shorten the preseason and then added another regular-season game, which was met with some mixed reviews from the players.

They’ve also tried to get rid of Thursday Night Football games, citing that they need to get some rest and that short-week games are terrible for their bodies and their schedules.

That’s why it’s not a surprise to see multiple players speaking up against the league’s decision to allow some teams to have two short-week matchups per season.

Not only will this give a competitive edge to those teams with just one or no short-week games, but it could also lead to more injuries for the players.

Notably, San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle took to Instagram to let it be known that he’s not in agreement with this new policy.

He joined the Kansas City Chiefs duo of Patrick Mahomes and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who also put the league on blast on social media.

This rule will most likely take a toll on the big-market and winning teams  — such as the 49ers.

Fans often complained about last season’s Thursday Night Football schedule, as it featured mostly struggling teams with poor offenses.

The league will now try and go to great lengths to keep nothing but the best teams in those primetime spots, so we can expect the Niners, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles, among many others, to have a couple of games on Thursday Night Football.
