The Cleveland Guardians made a big move on Tuesday when they signed second baseman Andres Gimenez to a seven-year contract extension.
Gimenez came over to Cleveland along with Amed Rosario in the deal that sent Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco back to the New York Mets.
He earned an All-Star nod last season and even won a Gold Glove.
Cleveland had extended Jose Ramirez before the start of last season and have now done the same with Gimenez.
On MLB Network, analysts broke down the contract extension and what it ultimately means for both Gimenez and the Guardians as a whole.

Gimenez’s contract is worth a total of $106.5 million, but can earn him up to $128 million with a team option for an eighth year and escalators.
Carlos Pena discussed what the move means for the Guardians, stating that it was a good move because of the fact that the team was able to extend Gimenez at an affordable price while he’s still young.
The former MLB star even predicted that Gimenez will be a perennial 20-20 club member.
The 24-year-old hit .297 with 17 home runs in 2022.
Pena also praised Gimenez for the way he went about his business and expressed how much fun it is to watch him on the baseball field.
Gimenez ran the bases well and was very versatile on the defensive end as well.
The Guardians were fortunate enough to lock up another young star and do so at a very affordable price as they prepare to bounce back from their ALDS loss.
