It shouldn’t come as a surprise at this point, but former NFL linebacker Willie McGinest will no longer be a part of the NFL Network, according to a report by Michael McCarthy of FrontOfficeSports.com.
This comes in the midst of a series of cuts by the network, and shortly after McGinest was involved in a physical altercation.
In the least surprising move of NFL Media’s ongoing cuts (given that he was already suspended), Willie McGinest is reportedly out at NFL Network. https://t.co/axyHz4sXTB

The NFL needs to protect its product, and as such, it can’t afford to have anyone involved in any sort of scandal on its official network, and the fans know it.
Looks like they need to reevaluate their hiring process. Some of these network dudes in the last decade have flamed out…hard.

McGinest had already been suspended after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
He’s also facing a lawsuit for this attack, with the victim claiming that the former linebacker got heated after he made a comment about USC losing to Utah in the Pac-12 championship game of last year’s college football season.
According to the lawsuit, the USC legend walked away from the confrontation before suddenly coming back and approaching the victim.
He later punched him in the face and struck him in the head with a glass bottle, with several men also punching him.
He was quick to release a public apology and vowed to be better ever since, but it was too little, too late already.
Notably, McGinest is now the fourth NFL Network personality to be shown the door in the past couple of weeks.
He follows the steps of Mike Giardi, Rachel Bonnetta, and Jim Trotter, who’s been often critical of Commissioner Roger Goodell, especially in terms of social inclusion and diversity.
