The Phoenix Suns didn’t hesitate to trade for Kevin Durant because he’s one of the greatest players to ever live.
Durant can single-handedly turn any team into an NBA championship contender, regardless of his age or how hurt he’s been as of late.
He’s the ultimate plug-and-play guy, a player who can seemingly fit in any single system in the world, a generational scorer with no actual weaknesses in his game.
Even so, some people will never give him his flowers.
That’s why he recently claimed that he doesn’t care about his legacy anymore.
Durant stated that people will always change the narrative when it comes to him; they’ll try to take him down no matter how much he accomplishes.
Unsurprisingly, those comments led to even more criticism, with some fans stating that he actually cares about his legacy and is only trying to act tough again.
Nonetheless, former NBA player Jay Williams fully agrees with Durant’s take on that matter.
Williams claims that Durant — and the rest of the basketball world — know how much of a legend he already is, so he shouldn’t even care about what people have to say about him anymore.
.@RealJayWilliams reacts to KD’s comments on legacy:
“Regardless of whether people said [going to the Warriors] was the weakest move in the history of sports, who gives a damn about what other people think? … If I’m Kevin Durant, I know I’m already one of the damn greatest.” pic.twitter.com/zrqpeckxtR

Fans will never forgive Durant for joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016, but it’s not for the fans to determine whether a player is successful or not; his résumé speaks for itself.
So, yeah, one may or may not agree with his career choices, and you may not even like him as a person.
But Durant is one of the most unique and talented players ever, and he’s got the trophy case to back it up.
