Twitter is undergoing some huge changes and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers isn’t having it.
The massively popular social media company announced that users will only retain their verified blue checkmarks if they agree to pay a monthly fee.
But James isn’t going to agree to that and tweeted that his checkmark will “be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t pay the 5.”
This led to a very humorous note from NBA writer Chris Fedor:

The idea of James not being willing to pay for Pandora or Twitter is both funny but also admirable as well.
This isn’t the first time that fans have heard about James’ resistance to paying fees.
Back in 2017, Dwyane Wade called James the NBA’s cheapest player in an interview.
James said that statement was “falsely true” and did admit to not paying for an ad-free version of Pandora.
The music streaming company then actually offered James a premium account for free.
The idea of James losing his blue checkmark is astonishing because he is such a major presence on Twitter.
He currently has 52.8 million followers, making him one of the most popular users of the site.
If he were to lose his checkmark or eventually decide to leave Twitter, it would definitely have a big impact on the site.
James loves to communicate with fans about this family, his businesses, and of course his team.
But he will probably be logging off of Twitter soon because he always takes a hiatus from social media during the playoffs.
Although they missed the postseason last year, it appears as if James and his Lakers will be back this time so fans should expect James to be away from Twitter, regardless of the status of his blue checkmark.
