Dalvin Cook has been one of the most discussed members of the Minnesota Vikings during the 2023 NFL offseason.
Cook has been frequently talked about as a potential cap causality, given his age and the position that he plays.
Unfortunately for Cook, teams tend to move on from aging running backs, which was recently evidenced by the Dallas Cowboys cutting ties with Ezekiel Elliott.
While his playing status for 2023 is still up in the air, it appears that Cook’s injury concerns are now quelled.
According to a recent update from Ian Rapoport, Cook has made strong progress after his shoulder surgery and is said to be fully healthy.

As Rapoport highlights, Cook had been dealing with this nagging injury for three years.
Now, he should be able to run without hesitation, something that he had been constantly dealing with.
When the 2023 NFL season begins, Cook will be 28 years old.
From a historical lens, running backs have taken a significant dip in production after they turned 27.
Last year, Cook played in all 17 games for the Vikings, rushing for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns.
He also contributed 295 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, which came on the heels of 39 receptions.
While 2022 wasn’t necessarily the best statistical season of his career, Cook still averaged 4.4 yards per carry.
This is an indication that he still had gas in the tank, fighting for extra yardage when he could get it.
The Vikings had an unexpected early exit from the playoffs in 2022 and will look to make a deeper run in 2023.
Will Cook still be on the roster when the time comes, aiding the Vikings on this quest?
