At one point, James Wiseman was considered to be the future of the Golden State Warriors, and now he is seen as the future of the Detroit Pistons instead.

The former number two overall pick in the 2020 draft was moved to the Pistons from the Warriors following a trade deadline deal from the NBA champs.

Wiseman spoke about that change with ESPN.

He said that he, “can’t be hard on myself about anything, about trying to be good right now, all the instant gratification stuff.”

He added that “this is apparently like my rookie year.”

Before the trade in February, Wiseman was posting 6.9 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Dubs.

Since coming to the Motor City, Wiseman has averaged 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds.

It’s clear that this change of scenery was very good for Wiseman.

It can be stated that the stakes are lower with the Pistons so the pressure is off of Wiseman’s shoulders.

Additionally, he can spend a lot more time on the floor with his new team, who aren’t competing for a spot in the playoffs.

When playing for the Warriors this season, he was averaging just 12.5 minutes a game but he is now performing for 25.7.

With that added time and that lack of pressure, Wiseman has been finding his rhythm again.

His career has been plagued by multiple injuries, including one that kept him out for all of last season.

It was going to take him time before he was performing like his regular self again.

Many fans of the Warriors were disappointed to see Wiseman leave the Bay Area and they wished him the best.

He has now turned a page in his career and has a fresh start.

The future is looking bright for Wiseman again.
