After acquiring superstar quarterback Russell Wilson in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos were expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender with a formidable offense and a lockdown defense.

Unfortunately for the storied NFL franchise, things didn’t go as planned, with Wilson looking like his best years might be behind him and then-head coach Nathaniel Hackett clearly being the wrong man for the job in Denver.

With the Broncos going from a preseason title contender to a five-win team, Denver became somewhat of a laughing stock around the league, with fans not holding back when talking about Wilson and the struggling franchise.

The team announced that a new alternate helmet for the Broncos would be released at some point later in the NFL offseason.

Here are some fan reactions to the announcement about a new alternate helmet for the Broncos:

Just make throwback moderns the new home and away uniforms, but the icy whites are fire.

The idea of a white helmet seems cool. But our away uniforms are too bland and mediocre to support either/and a white helmet and blue pants (as we saw unfortunately last season). Don’t switch up a thing til our uniform overhaul takes effect in 24 pic.twitter.com/vNYkQpyJSJ

The Broncos are an easy target right now and deserve a lot of the criticism they’ve been getting from fans, but that might not last too long if Payton proves he’s the right man to be the leader on the sideline in Denver.

Denver hiring Payton has been one of the biggest stories of the offseason thus far, as it could give the Broncos the kind of leadership needed to bounce back from a 5-12 season and last-place finish in the AFC West.
