The 2023 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away, with all the teams around the league finalizing their draft boards and doing their due diligence on prospects.
One team in an interesting position right now is the Seattle Seahawks, who currently own the No. 5 overall pick and have a few areas of need.
At No. 5, the Seahawks will likely have a shot at one of the four top quarterback prospects in the draft and have already met with C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young, but Cynthia Frelund of NFL Network believes the perfect pick for Seattle would be edge rusher, Tyree Wilson out of Texas Tech.
“Those O-lineman are not gonna know what hit them.”@cfrelund breaks out some data to show why @TexasTechFB edge rusher @tyreewilson77 is the right pick at No. 5 in Seattle.

With the Seahawks meeting with Young and Stroud, the team is considering their options at quarterback or at least entertaining the idea of drafting a player at that position.
The team recently re-signed Geno Smith to a three-year deal worth over $100 million after winning NFL Comeback Player of the Year last season.
However, the deal is frontloaded, with Smith set to make $52 million next season, so it might be easy for the team to get off the contract in the following two years.
Drafting a promising young quarterback at No. 5 will make sense if the team becomes enamored with one of the four players expected to be taken early in the first round.
As for Frelund’s take on Wilson being the right pick at No. 5, it’ll all be up to Pete Carroll and company on whether they want to improve the defense immediately or set up the future with a quarterback they can develop.
