The 2022-23 NBA season hasn’t worked out as planned for the Los Angeles Lakers, with the team battling through injuries all season long and trading away half the team before the NBA trade deadline.

Although the Lakers have been able to turn things around as of late, with the team now two games above .500 at 40-38 heading into Tuesday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz, the team hasn’t faired well the past few years with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way.

These two superstars have often been injured, which has led to ESPN uncovering the following stat about the last two seasons in Lakerland.

An NBA team won’t accomplish much if its two star players aren’t on the floor at the same time, and the Lakers not having Davis and James on the floor for more than five games in a row is telling.

Although the Lakers were able to win a championship with James and Davis leading the way in the bubble in 2020, the team has struggled to play consistently well ever since, with a lot of the blame on the team’s overall health.

The real question moving forward is whether the storied franchise has grown tired of this narrative about James and Davis and whether Jeanie Buss and company will want to move on this summer.

The end result of this season will likely impact the decisions made by the team and the players as to what the future holds in Los Angeles and if the Davis-James era is about to come to an end.
