Last month, superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers let it be known that he fully intends to play in a New York Jets uniform next season, which ended all the speculation about whether he’d retire and, if he didn’t, where he’d play.

Although it has been nearly a month since Rodgers made his long-awaited announcement, the Jets and Green Bay Packers have yet to agree to terms on a blockbuster trade that would send the four-time NFL MVP to the Big Apple.

There’s been a lot of speculation about what the hold-up is in these trade talks, with the consensus being that the Jets are being the difficult party, but according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky via Eli Berkovits, the Packers aren’t budging with their trade demands.

The latest from @RobDemovsky on the Aaron Rodgers situation:

This is a somewhat unusual situation when it comes to trades in the NFL, as usually when a player makes a trade demand to a team, the deal gets done sooner rather than later, but Green Bay isn’t messing around and want what they want for their superstar quarterback.

Despite the hold-up in trade talks, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Rodgers will be under center in New York.

The real question moving forward is when this deal will get done, as it would make sense before the 2023 NFL Draft if picks in this year’s draft are to be involved in the blockbuster deal.

Only a few weeks remain leading up to the first day of the draft on April 27, and it’ll be interesting to see if these two teams can get this done before that date.
