When he entered the NFL in 2011, Cam Newton was on top of the world and one of the most popular players in the league.
After winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2011, and the league MVP in 2015, Newton’s production and standing in the NFL have altered.
He hasn’t seen the field since 2021 when he started just five games for the Carolina Panthers.
Despite being quiet for the 2022 season, in a recent press conference, Newton announced that he is willing to return to the league, relegating himself to a backup role.

Newton named several players that he’s willing to backup, including Sam Howell, Deshaun Watson, and Josh Allen.
When this news was released, many fans around the league expressed their opinion on the situation.

One fan mentioned that Newton might have a better chance to play in the XFL or USFL, where he would have an opportunity to be a starter.
It does appear that Newton’s intention is to return to the NFL, so joining an alternative league is likely out of the question at this time.

This fan gives Newton an alternative solution, which is playing a Tayson Hill-esque role.
Hill was often used at the goal line for the New Orleans Saints but also threw passes when necessary.
While this is certainly an option for Newton, he would need to be in the right situation to make this happen.

Many Panthers fans have demonstrated their support for Newton, and have wished him success in his future endeavors.
He did bring the Panthers to a Super Bowl, after all.
