The St. Louis Cardinals had a rough day on Wednesday.
As if the friction between outfielder Tyler O’Neill and manager Oli Marmol wasn’t enough, the team fell into another early hole on Wednesday and never climbed out of it.
Once again, the Cardinals were unable to turn in a quality start.
Jordan Walker provided the only offense, hitting his first career home run and driving in another run in the ninth.
However, it was not enough to save the Cards from achieving an unfortunate feat on Wednesday.
The Atlanta Braves completed a three-game sweep, marking the first time the Cardinals were swept at home since August of 2021, which also came at the hands of the Braves.
The Braves scored four times in the first two innings and the Cardinals never recovered. St. Louis drops a 5-2 loss and is swept by Atlanta. It’s the team’s first sweep at home since Aug. 2021. Just a rough series all around. #STLCards

The Cardinals began the season on the right foot, taking two out of three from the Toronto Blue Jays.
Their offense carried them to a series win over the weekend.
However, the bats went quiet in the final two games and the starting pitching remained an issue.
The Cardinals typically play their best baseball at Busch Stadium in front of their fans.
But after being swept by the Braves, they dropped to 2-4 on the season.
Now, they’ll travel to face the Milwaukee Brewers, who are off to a hot start this season, having just swept the New York Mets and holding them scoreless in the first two games of the series.
Needless to say, things aren’t about to get any easier for St. Louis.
It’s early in the season still, but being swept at home is never a good sign.
