San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is currently playing in Triple-A as he gets himself ready for his MLB return.
Still suspended for a steroid violation last year, Tatis is expected back with the Padres on April 20.
That’s a couple of weeks from now.
Until then, expect to see his name in the Triple-A El Paso lineup on an everyday basis.
When healthy, he is a monster of a hitter.
The numbers and the evidence back that up.
He seems to be in a good place health-wise, so we will probably be seeing more home runs like this one:
Holy Tatis That ball is gone!!

Sure, it was a meatball over the heart of the plate, but it’s good to see Tatis’ bat speed is there.
That was one of the worries about the injuries he suffered last year: since they were to important body parts in the act of swinging, people are worried about how much power will he show once he returns to MLB.
If this clip is any indication, he will be fine.
Now, he will have to do it against big-league pitching: that will be the biggest test.
When he is on, Tatis is one of the league’s legitimate 40-40 threats.
It will be fun to see him on the basepaths with the larger bases, but we are fascinated to see how his shoulder responds in the power department.
He is expected to be a huge part of the Padres’ next postseason run, together with a phenomenal pitching staff and three great sluggers: Manny Machado, Juan Soto, and Xander Bogaerts.
