One day you’re on top, and the next, you’re just yesterday’s news; that’s just the way things go in the National Football League.
That seems to be the case with the New England Patriots’ Mac Jones, who’s been tangled up in multiple trade rumors as of late.
Analysts raved about Jones’ poise, maturity, and work ethic, and he looked like the perfect guy to keep “the Patriots way” going and abide by their winning standards.
But regression in his sophomore season, plus an alleged beef with Bill Belichick, might as well now push the Alabama standout out the door.
Recently, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer confirmed the rumors about the Patriots shopping Jones around the league, although there has been no traction in those talks thus far.

Belichick was non-committal when asked about whether Jones would be under center come Week 1, stating that all of his players — of all positions — would get a chance to play.
The Patriots have been linked with Lamar Jackson over the past couple of weeks.
There’s some chatter about Belichick’s job being in jeopardy if the team doesn’t go back to its winning ways in 2023, with owner Robert Kraft reaffirming his desire to win right now.
The Pats, however, will have a tough time keeping up with the rest of the division, as the AFC East has rapidly become one of the powerhouses in the league.
So, will they hold on to Jones or pursue a different direction in 2023?
It seems like it’s anybody’s guess at this point.
