Former No. 1 overall draft pick Baker Mayfield has had a tough time since being drafted out of the University of Oklahoma in 2018 by the Cleveland Browns.

Mayfield’s stint with the Browns didn’t end well and resulted in the Heisman Trophy winner ending up with the Carolina Panthers, which was even worse for the outspoken quarterback.

After things fell apart for Mayfield with the Panthers, the future looked bleak for the soon-to-be 28-year-old gunslinger, but he did end up with the Los Angeles Rams for the final stretch of the 2022 season and was able to show flashes of his old form.

Throughout his career so far, Mayfield has gotten a bad reputation for a few things, including possibly being a bad teammate.

However, as he told Jim Rome, former Browns tight end Austin Hooper disagrees with the notion that Mayfield is a bad teammate.

Fortunately for Mayfield, the veteran quarterback can get a fresh start after recently signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be Tom Brady’s successor.

Although no one in the NFL wants to take over for arguably the greatest football player in NFL history, the Buccaneers are an ideal spot for Mayfield as there won’t be too much pressure in Tampa Bay, but he will have some weapons at his disposal to make some noise in a weak NFC South division.

As for Hooper, the veteran tight end will also get a fresh start after a short stint with the Tennessee Titans.

Hooper recently signed with the Las Vegas Raiders after the team traded Darren Waller to the New York Giants.
