The San Francisco 49ers finished their 2022 season with a 13-4 record, atop the NFC West.
Due to several injury concerns, including one to quarterback Brock Purdy, the 49ers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship.
Similar to every other team across the league, the 49ers have used the offseason to build their team in hopes of making another deep playoff run.
The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and the 49ers are reportedly targeting the tight end position, per David Lombardi of The Athletic.
As was very expected, the 49ers are zeroing in on tight ends ahead of a draft that’s very rich at the position https://t.co/JJ3EXFY82u

The 2023 draft class is said to be filled with several blue-chip prospects, including at the tight end position.
In a typical draft, there are usually one or two standout tight end prospects, but this is not a position that typically has a lot of depth.
However, players like Darnell Washington, Michael Mayer, and Cameron Latu are highly regarded and could find themselves drafted in the first two rounds.
According to Tom Pelissero’s report, Latu is visiting with the 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys, just weeks before the draft is slated to occur.
While the 49ers do have George Kittle already, it never hurts to get more depth at an offensive position.
During his final season at the University of Alabama, Latu had 30 receptions for 377 yards and four touchdowns.
Latu’s final collegiate season doesn’t necessarily bounce off the page, but many scouts have marveled at his size.
At 6’5″ and 244 pounds, Latu should be able to find success in the NFL, especially if he ends up in a favorable landing spot.
