The Tennessee Titans made a big move on Friday.
After a slow offseason of not making many moves, the Titans agreed to a massive extension with their best defensive player.
The deal was with defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons.
According to Ian Rapoport, the extension is for four years and $94 million.

Many Titans fans are thrilled to have Simmons under contract long-term.
He is going to be only 26 years old next season and he still has many great years ahead of him.
Also, this deal will make him the second-highest-paid defensive lineman in the NFL based on AAV (average annual value).
Good value for Tennessee

But when a player signs this big of a contract, his expectations to perform also go up.
Simmons will be expected to continue to play at an All-Pro level over the next four seasons.

Titans fans are thrilled to have one of their difference-makers back.
He has 16 sacks over the past two seasons and has been a reason for their defensive success over the years.
Worth every cent! #Titans

Simmons is one of the rare defensive tackles that can dominate as a run defender and pass rusher.
He was drafted by the Titans in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Simmons has been in Nashville his whole career and had no intentions of leaving.
Judging by these numbers, our @Titans got a great deal.
That’s a sign that Jeffrey Simmons wanted to stay in Nashville.
Everything about this news is awesome.

Now that the Titans brought back their top defensive player, it will be interesting to see what they can accomplish in 2023.
The Titans could be a playoff team next season, but that is only if they get more consistent quarterback play.
