The Los Angeles Chargers have their franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert.
He has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league since he was drafted in 2020.
But, the time is coming for Herbert to get paid.
Herbert is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
So the Chargers are free to start negotiating a new contract with their star.
The projected deal for Herbert is expected to be one of massive proportions.
According to Pro Football Focus, Herbert’s contract should be over $200 million.

His average annual value could be up to $52 million per season.
That would be the most in the NFL as of today.
But, there are plenty of quarterbacks who need new deals.
Meaning the market will fluctuate depending on what other quarterbacks sign for.
If the Chargers are smart they will pay Herbert before Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow get paid.
That way they might be able to save themselves some money.
Each of those players will sign for over $50 million per year, but whoever signs last might get the most money.
Herbert was able to lead the Chargers to the playoffs last season, in a game where the Chargers blew a 27-0 lead.
The ending of last season put a stain on the Chargers’ successful year.
Yet, that should not stop them from wanting to pay Herbert big money.
